This is permanent. Deleting your account is immediate and irreversible. There is no deactivation, no grace period, and no way for us to restore your inventory or price history afterwards. If you only want to stop using the app, signing out is enough.
Option 1 โ Delete it yourself in the app
This is the fastest route and takes effect the moment you confirm.
- Open HomeStox and sign in.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the bottom, to the Danger Zone.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Read the summary โ it tells you exactly which of your homes will be deleted and which will change ownership.
- Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete Account.
Option 2 โ Ask us to delete it
If you can no longer sign in โ a lost password you cannot reset, a device you no longer have โ email us and we will do it for you.
Email support@codedelights.com with the subject "HomeStox account deletion request", from the email address registered to the account.
Sending it from the registered address is how we verify the request is yours. If you cannot, tell us and we will find another way to confirm your identity before deleting anything โ we will not delete an account on an unverified request.
We action requests within 30 days, usually far sooner, and email you when it is done.
What gets deleted
Whichever route you take, the outcome is the same.
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your login and password | Deleted permanently. You can no longer sign in. |
| Your profile โ email, display name | Deleted permanently. |
| Homes where you were the only member | Deleted entirely, along with every item, shopping list entry, and purchase record in them. |
| Homes you shared with others | Kept โ they belong to the remaining members too. You are removed from the member list. If you were the last owner, ownership passes to the longest-standing member so the household keeps full access. |
| Purchases you recorded in a shared home | The price history stays with the home, since the other members rely on it. Your name is detached from those records. |
| Your notifications and activity history | Deleted permanently. |
| Your push notification tokens | Deleted permanently. Your device stops receiving HomeStox notifications. |
| Pending invitations you sent or received | Deleted or invalidated. |
Before you delete a shared home
If you are the only member of a home, deleting your account deletes that home and everything in it โ including history other people may have contributed before leaving. The confirmation screen in the app names those homes explicitly so there is no surprise.
If you want the household to keep its inventory, invite someone else to the home and let them accept before you delete your account. The home will then survive, and ownership transfers to them automatically.
Backups
Deletion removes your data from the live service immediately. Our hosting provider's routine encrypted backups may retain deleted records for a short rolling window before ageing out; those backups are not accessible to the app and are never used to restore individual accounts.
